QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that no operation is being conducted in the province, dismissing such claims as sheer propaganda.

An official statement issued here said the chief minister expressed these views while talking to Dutch Ambassador Hugo Gajus Scheltema in Islamabad on Thursday.

Mr Raisani said people were supporting the government because it had solved several problems faced by them and the remaining issues would be resolved soon.

The Frontier Corps, he said, had been given police powers, but only for a limited period.

The chief minister and the ambassador discussed the redesigning of the Pasni Fish Harbour Project being executed by a Dutch firm. Mr Rasiani sought cooperation of Holland in overcoming the energy shortage in the province.

Mr Scheltema promised to look into the request.

Meanwhile, according to a separate statement, the chief minister set up a parliamentary committee comprising provincial ministers to review problems of the Residential College Khuzdar and submit its recommendations to resolve the issue.
