KARACHI, Dec 30: Favorites Marathon with 151 Victory Points (VP) annexed the PSO Super Marathon Bridge Championship which concluded Sunday night at Aslam Bridge Hall National Stadium.

Marathon comprising Rashid-ul-Ghazi, Mohsin Chandna, Nafis Jafer, Sultan Siddiqui, Tariq Rasheed Khan and Rashid Jafer.

Out of the seven rounds, Marathon had virtually won the championship in the third round when it had beaten Giants by an unbelievable margin of 51 International Match Points (Imps), thus claiming 25 conceding 51 Imps.

In that match Marathon’s both the pairs just outbid and outplayed Giants in every field of the game.

Having opened the account with Chandna, sharing 30 VP equally, due to two unlucky swings in favour of Chandna of 13 Imps both the bards, they obtained maximum against Attackers 25-05 After their moral boosting win against PSO, Marathon faced Candyland, another hopeful.

Again they faced little resistance and force victory 21-9 Strikers fell prey in the fifth round and Marathon netted 20-10 in this match.

Arzoo were their next victim, which team went fighting down 23-7 and in the last encounter Lipton could not withstand the pressure and Marathon added another 22 Imps to their tally.

The second favorites Giants comprising Masud Saleem, Shahin Iqbal, Hasan Akhtar Zaidi, Masud Mazhar, Amin Hakeem and Tehsin Gheewala finished in second place with 131 points.

Candyland fielding Muhammad Ismail, Hasan Askari, Ziaullah Baig, Imran Jaka and Mohiuddin brothers, Hamid and Khalid, scored 122 VP for the third berth.

Arzoo with A.K.Bhurgari, Mushahid Siddiqui, Shahab Khan, Ghufran Ashraf, Mubashir Puri and Nasim Arzoo scored 120 V.P. for the fourth place.—APP
