PESHAWAR, Oct 2: University of Peshawar and University of Erfurt, Germany on Tuesday signed an agreement for internationalisation of higher education.

Under the agreement, the two universities will help each other in academics, cultural exchange and research, according to a news release issued here.

UoP vice chancellor Professor Qibla Ayaz and Professor Jamal Malik, a representative of Erfurt University president, signed the agreement.

The release said the agreement would cover inclusion of UoP Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies and Regional Studies for exchange of faculty and students, research publication and joint research with German university.

It said the mass communication and political science departments of UoP were already working with University of Erfurt and until now, around 25 students and 10 teachers of different departments had benefited from the bilateral exchange programme.

The release said the agreement would last for three years until Sept 30, 2015.

“Thereafter, it’ll automatically renew on the same terms and conditions for three more years,” it said.
