LAHORE, Sept 30: Police claim to have arrested 164 proclaimed offenders, 192 court absconders and 24 members of nine gangs of robbers/thieves in the last one week’s crackdown.

A spokesman for operations police said that different police teams acted against criminal elements, busted nine gangs and seized looted items worth Rs700,000 and illegal weapons from them.

He said police took 95 drug peddlers into custody, seized 5kg heroin, 16kg hashish and 566 bottles of liquor and booked them in 70 cases.

As many as 82 people were detained with illegal weapons and booked in cases.

He said the police captured 89 gamblers during raids at gambling dens and seized stake money worth Rs418,000.

They also raided 23 prostitution dens and detained 79 men and women.

The operations police also impounded 301 vehicles and motorcycles against multiple violations.

Police also arrested 91 people for doing wheeling and violating aerial firing, price control, marriage and anti-beggary acts and booked them in 64 cases.
