LAHORE, Sept 30: Four men were injured after a group of armed people opened fire on a member of their rival group in main bazaar of Ameen Park in Shafeeqabad on Sunday.
The motive for the shooting was said to be litigation over murder.
Shafeeqabad SHO Tahir Ikram said the injured were all commoners who were watching cricket match at a hotel at the time of shooting.
He said preliminary inquiries showed that accused Shah Saeed and his brother Gul Saeed flanked by their accomplices came to the bazaar and opened fire on their rival Abdur Rehman who was present at his shop. The SHO said Rehman escaped unhurt.
He said Rehman was pursuing a double-murder case against the accused who were pressing for reconciliation.
The Saeed group had murdered Rehman’s paternal uncle and a passer-by in a firing incident in 2005.
The SHO said the victims’ condition was said to be stable at Mayo Hospital. He said a case would be registered shortly.
