KARACHI, Dec 30: Two persons fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Monday.

A young cyclist died in a hit-and-run road accident in Quaidabad in the morning. Police said that Ali Akbar, aged 30, was travelling on a bicycle on Quaidabad bridge when an unknown speeding vehicle knocked him down.

He was seriously injured. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died.

A seven-year-old boy died and his father was seriously injured when they were knocked down by a speeding minibus in Saeedabad late Sunday night.

Police said that Abdul Razzaque, aged 30, and his son Shoaib, aged seven, were travelling on a bicycle when a speeding minibus of route (G-11) knocked them down.

Both the injured father and son were rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced the boy dead on arrival.

Police said that the bus driver escaped abandoning the bus.

A man was seriously injured in a road accident at Karimabad.

Police said that Ghulam Rasool, aged 30, was run over by unknown speeding vehicle at Karimabad. He had been admitted to the JPMC.

Sources at the hospital said that the young man had suffered serious head injuries.

Two armed men barged into Yaqoob’s house in Nazimabad late Sunday night, held the family hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash and gold jewellery.
