KARACHI, Sept 29: Police foiled an attempt of an undertrial prisoner to escape from the premises of the city courts on Saturday.

Qaiser Zaman was booked at the Gizri police station under Section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance and the jail authorities brought him to the city courts regarding the hearing of the case.

Court sources said the UTP was produced before a judicial magistrate (south) and after the hearing policemen Sudheer and Mukhtar were escorting the UTP, who was chained up with two other prisoners, back to the lockup. But somehow the UTP unlocked his handcuffs and tried to flee.

Although the UTP ran out of the city courts premises, the police caught him on an adjacent road.
