KARACHI: In a bid to curb violence, witnessed during recent protest demonstrations against the anti-Islam movie, the Sindh home department on Friday has banned all kinds of rallies and processions in Karachi for three days (Saturday, Sunday and Monday), DawnNews reported.

Speaking to DawnNews, Additional Chief Secretary Sindh (Home) Wasim Ahmed said that the decision of imposing section 144 has been taken due to recent violent activities during protest rallies against the profane movie for maintaining law and order in the metropolis in order to ensure safety and security of life and property of citizens at large.

The home department has also issued a notice in this regard according to which, exhibition of arms is also strictly prohibited during the ban starting from midnight on Friday.

The notification further stated that legal action would be taken against the violators.

Meanwhile, Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman vowed to carry on with the already scheduled protest on Saturday. “We will protest against the blasphemous movie….and the procession will be initiated from Quaid’s mausoleum,” said Rehman.
