Woman commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Sept 27: A woman killed herself by hanging with ceiling fan while another man was shot dead at his motor workshop at Akbar Market on Thursday night, police said.

Kiran Serwar, 20, had been had been living a happy life with her husband Shahzad Ahmed.

The police said neither any suicide note nor anybody else from her family gave any reason behind the suicide. However, according to doctor at the District Headquarters Hospital, the woman’s father had been claiming that his daughter was murdered by her in-laws. The body of the deceased was removed to the hospital for postmortem.

In another incident, Noor Khan, a young motor mechanic in his mid-twenties, was standing outside his work place when a man came and opened fire on him killing him on the spot.

Police said apparently old enmity seems to be the motive behind the murder. — Staff Reporter

Prayer leader killed

ATTOCK, Sept 27: A prayer leader was killed in a road accident near Thatti Gujrah village close to Fatehjang police station.

Police said that a prayer leader Hafiz Shoaibur Rehman, resident of Kissan village, fell from the roof of a bus and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but could not survive. — Correspondent

Gang of robbers busted

TAXILA, Sept 27: Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a district gang of robbers wanted in over 40 armed robberies and recovered looted valuables from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party led by Inspector Ch Zulfiqar Ahmed raided a secret hideout and arrested Atif, Adil, Sadaqat, Usman Farooq and Ghulam Sarwar, involved in over 40 armed robberies in Taxila, Wah, Westridge, Tarnol, Waris Khan, Pirwadhai and recovered 4 snatched mobiles, cash worth Rs40,000, gold ornaments worth Rs0.2 million, 14 mobile phones, 13 coloured TVs and other domestic valuables worth Rs700,000. He said that police also recovered 3 pistols and 4 daggers. —Correspondent

RAWALPINDI, Sept 27: As many as 114 Pakistanis deported by the UK authorities and Greece, arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, on two separate chartered flights on Thursday.

Of the 114 deported, 76 arrived from UK, while the rest from Greece. Among those who were repatriated by the UK authorities, nine were women.

The first chartered flight with 76 Pakistanis on board arrived at the airport at 3pm from London.

When contacted, Uroojul Hassan, deputy director FIA immigration said that all of the repatriated Pakistanis arriving from UK were handed over to the passport cell, for further questioning and later freed.

Those who were deported by Greece authorities were taken into custody by the FIA passport cell .—Staff Reporter
