Arif Chattha gets PPP ticket to PP-103

Published December 30, 2002

GUJRANWALA, Dec 29: A trilateral contest is expected between the PML-Chattha, the PML-QA and the PPP in the by-election on PP-103 (Wazirabad), as the PPP has allotted its ticket to former MPA Chaudhry Mohammad Arif Chattha.

Mr Arif was a close associate of Chaudhry Hamid Nasir Chattha before joining the PPP some two weeks ago when Chaudhry Hamid Nasir Chattha allotted the PML-C ticket to one Akmal Saif Ali Chattha, the son of former MPA Chaudhry Saif Ali Chattha.

The PML-QA nominated former MPA Chaudhry Shaukat Hayat Chattha for the seat.

All the aspirants belong to Chattha baradari and would divide the votes of their baradari.

The PML-C nominee is a new face in local politics.

The seat was vacated by Hamid Nasir Chattha. The ruling party had not filed its candidate against Mr Chattha in the general election.
