PESHAWAR, Sept 24: An alleged kidnaper was killed and a policeman sustained injuries in an encounter in Shamshato area on the outskirts of Peshawar on Monday evening.

Sources said that the kidnappers were on the run after abducting Raj Wali and his son Shehzad from Jalozai area of Nowshera district as police were chasing them. The Nowshera police, who were chasing the kidnappers, informed their colleagues at Urmar police station, when

kidnappers reached near the limits of Peshawar district, they added.

Sources said that Urmar police exchanged fire with the kidnappers. A kidnaper whose identity couldn’t be ascertained was killed and a head constable, Iftikhar Khan, was injured in the encounter, they said. The kidnapped persons were released.

Meanwhile, three persons including a child were killed in separate incidents here on Monday. Police said that Mohammad Ishaq was shot dead by his son Mohammad Ibrahim over a land dispute in Faqirabad area.

In another incident, Mumtaz Ali Shah committed suicide in Musazai village owing to unknown reasons.

The mother of the deceased told police that her son went to his room in the night, however, he was found lying in a pool of blood in the morning as he had shot himself dead with his pistol.
