Bookies and cricket

Published September 15, 2012

AT least 11 people, allegedly involved in bookmaking in the Pakistan and Australia T20 match, were arrested by the police in Lahore. The police also recovered Rs6 million, mobile phones and computers from the alleged bookies.

The menace of bookmaking has plagued our society. Some people consider it the easiest way to become millionaires overnight.

This departure from the hard realities of life has deprived gamblers of whatever small or big amount they had.

On the other hand, bookmakers, the criminal slot of society, is blossoming and making economic progress by. This trend gives rise to anarchy in society and destroys the moral standards in society.
