KARACHI, Dec 27: The bay colt Snake Eyed, although finishing a poor fourth a few days ago, starts off as our day’s best, when the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday from 1.00 p.m.

Snake Eyed is contesting with eight other runners in the fifth race going over five furlongs and perhaps with jockey Shahzad once again in the saddle, the colt could get the better of two other speedy customers Blue’s Night and Mahsagar.

All in all, six events to be contested over the five furlong sprint has been drawn up for the afternoon’s programme.

Another runner that should not lose today is the three-year-old chestnut colt Defence Academy participating in the fourth event. The chestnut won his last outing a week ago under Shahzad, beating Mera Jugnoo by eight and half lengths on tight reins.

Also the grey gelding Ever Shine should find the going good running in the last race on Saturday.

Ever Shine however, will have to break into a sweat in overcoming the likes of Sapno Ki Rani and Sugar Daddy, who already has a win under his belt a week ago.

In the opener, Sharoz-e-Sehar is fancied in our columns to pick up the spoils from top weight Sher Khan and Darbari Malang.

Jango if on song is tipped to win the next event, with Rolling Thunder and Striker close on his heels.

In a big field of 19 runners vying for the top honours in the third race, the chestnut gelding Surprise Again, although carrying a heavy impost of 9-4 on his back, should win this race with a good lad astride.

Richy Rich and Reasonable however, will be going all out to prove us wrong.
