PESHAWAR, Nov 22: The labour court here on Wednesday issued arrest warrants of three officials of Pakistan Railways, including its general manager, for non-compliance of a court order.

The court presided over by Syed Wajahat Ali Shah had summoned the officials — general manager, Lahore, Abdul Samad, divisional engineer, Peshawar, Gulraiz Hashmi and a DEN, Peshawar, Farrukh Taimoor — in a case pertaining to removal of ten employees from service.

However, on Wednesday they did not turn up before the court and instead sent another employee there. Advocate Shahabuddin Burq appeared for the petitioners.

Earlier, the same petitioners had filed petition before the labour court, stating that they had completed ten years of service in Pakistan Railways and they should now be considered permanent employees. They were provided relief by the labour court, but Railways had filed an appeal before the labour appellate tribunal of the high court. The case was referred back to the labour court. While the labour court had to decide the matter the petitioners were expelled from service.
