KARACHI: DHA projects discussed

KARACHI, Dec 27: A meeting of representatives of the Defence Residents Societies was held here on Friday in the DHA’s main office to discuss various problems and suggestions of the residents. DHA administrator Brig Asif Ghazali presided over the meeting.

The administrator, welcoming the participants, specifically mentioned the project of laying of a 24-inch diameter water main, which will help in improving the water supply situation in Defence.

He also mentioned the DHA Power and Desalination Project, which envisages converting seawater into potable water as well as the generation of electricity.

The other development works include carpeting of the main roads, renovation of streetlights, establishment of three sewerage treatment plants and work on project of provision of electricity in Defence Phase VIII with the approval of the KESC.

The administrator also cited the ongoing cleanliness drive, which envisages arrangements for the collection of garbage from house-to-house, and an intensive campaign to clean the stormwater and sewerage lines in Defence as some of the accomplished tasks of significance. He also mentioned the details of the successful campaign against the use of polyethylene bags recently launched by the DHA.—PPI
