Murad pedals to victory

LAHORE, Dec 26: Murad Ali of NWFP won the Champions of Hills Cycle Race covering the distance from Rawalpindi to Murree in two hours 11 minutes 17 seconds on Wednesday, according to a message received here.

Murad showed impressive performance in presence of professional cyclists like the defending champion Haroon Rashid and Dilsher Ali who were relegated to second and third position, respectively.

Maqsood Jan, another cyclist from NWFP and Ghulam Qadir of Wapda secured fourth and fifth positions followed by Nazir Bhatti of Punjab who finished sixth.

According to the team’s position, Wapda were the winners while Punjab claimed the runners-up spot followed by Railways in third place.

Murad received a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The cash prizes for the second to fifth positions were Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000, respectively.
