KARACHI, Nov 22: An alleged carjacker was killed in a shootout with the police on Wednesday night in Bahadurabad.

The police claimed that one Saleem was on his way in his motorcycle when two persons intercepted him near C.P. Berar Society and asked him to hand over the keys of the bike. Saleem raised an alarm. A police party reached the site and asked the suspects to surrender.

The suspects became jittery and opened fire. The police also opened fire and a shootout followed in which a suspect was hit by a bullet. His identity could not be established immediately by the police. He died on the spot before being taken to hospital. His accomplice managed to escape from the spot.

CARJACKINGS: At least 11 vehicles — five cars and six motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Thursday, police said.

The cars were stolen in Risala, Preedy, Clifton, New Town and Ferozabad areas and their numbers are: U-5830, QAF-7007, ACS-620, CK-9898, ADK-811.

The motorcycles were taken away in Defence, Nabi Bux, Artillery Maidan, Sir Syed Town and their number are: KAE-5165, KCI-2524, KAN-7211, KCT-4278, KCT-9895, LOG-3125.

Police claimed to have recovered four vehicles in different parts of the city on Thursday.

The CPLC Malir, during a snap checking at different parts of the district, recovered five vehicles, said a statment issued by the police on Thursday.

The vehicles were CK-9473, AND-336, ACK-519, ABY-695 and Z- 0709.

ACCIDENT: A middleaged man died in a traffic accident in SITE on late Wednesday night.

Police said Haji Sultan, 38, was knocked down by a speeding water-tanker (JP-0307) near Valika Hospital.

The victim — father of four children — was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where expired, police said.

A CIA team rushed to the spot and arrested three dacoits Muhammad Shahid, Nadim Hussain and Muhammad Afzal when they were trying to escape.

Police recovered the looted amount and a pistol.
