10 faint after taking drugged meal

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 26: Ten members of Tablighee Jamaat fell unconscious on Thursday as they were served with drugged food by one of their colleagues in Kot Salim, some 50 kms from here.

A group of tablighee Jamaat was staying at a mosque for the preaching purpose. One of their colleagues, Sharif, served them with meal in the mosque after which they fainted. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where three of them were stated to be in precarious condition. Accused Sharif of Faisalabad also took away Rs12,500 in cash. Police are conducting raids to arrest the culprit.

Those fainted include Tariq Anwar, Hadayat, Noor Elahi, Maulana Arshad, Allama Ziaur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Qari Ahmad and Sufi Waqas Ahmad. Residents of different parts of the Faisalabad district, they came here for 10 days preaching.

SHOT DEAD: An elderly man was shot dead over an election rivalry on Thursday in the limits of Safdrabad police station, some 45kms from here.

PML-N’s Naveed Hussain had a grudge that Hayat Muhammad (70) and his family members did not cast votes in his favour. On Thursday, both the rivals exchanged heated words after which Naveed whipped out his pistol and shot the old man dead.

A case has been registered against him.
