OKARA, Dec 26: Additional District and Sessions Judge (Deepalpur) Raja Pervez Akhtar sentenced four persons to death, imprisoned six others for life and fined each of them Rs100,000 in a triple-murder case.

Another seven of the accused were given the benefit of the doubt and set free.

Sources said that two years ago, the convicts had murdered Mohammad Siddiq and two others over a land dispute in Chak 43/5-P, Khurrey, Deepalpur. The case was reported to Saddar Deepalpur police.

Manzoor, Mohammad Yasin, Amir alias Pappu and Mohammad Shafi were sentenced to death and Shakoor, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Akhtar, Mohammad Siddiq and Mohammad Tehseen to life imprisonment while Babar, Zahoor, Sarwar, Anwar, Jamil, Shah Nawaz and Mohammad Buksh were acquitted.

KILLED: A fifth class student was killed late Wednesday night when the roof of his house collapsed due to vibrations produced by a speeding railway train on tracks nearby, in Jhughian Ghulam Farid near Mandi Heera Singh.
