KARACHI: Despite having to play two back-to-back matches in a day due to a poorly worked out schedule, Pakistan women beat both Bangladesh and Ireland to take the Ireland Tri-Nation Women’s T20 Series at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Pakistan women cricketers had also won the One-day tri-series played here between the three teams.

The day’s first match, second in the series, saw Pakistan beating Ireland by eight wickets with 29 balls to spare.

Pakistan won the toss and put Ireland into bat. They made 81 runs for the loss of six wickets. Captain Sana Mir took three wickets while giving away 13 runs as wicketkeeper Batool Fatima’s quick reflexes also brought two stumpings to trigger Ireland batting collapse. Captain Cecelia Joyce remained their top scorer with 29 runs as the rest of the side was dismissed cheaply.

On the other hand, Pakistan easily reached their target on the board for the loss of only two wickets in 15.1 overs. Opener Nida Dar contributed 46 and Sana Mir 33.

The match also saw Elizabeth Barkat Khan, who has recently been selected in the ICC Women World T20 squad, making her international T20 debut.

In the other match, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by six wickets. The toss was won by Bangladesh who then elected to bat first. They made 96 for the loss of six wickets in the 20 designated overs. Captain Salma Khatun made 23, Lata Mondal 22 and Rumana Ahmed 19 but none of Bangladesh’s other batters reached double figures.

Again Pakistan captain Sana Mir picked up three wickets but while giving away 16 runs this time.

In reply, Pakistan made 99 for the loss of four wickets in 16 overs. Nida Dar made 28, Bismah Maroof 23, Qanita Jalil 17 and Javeria Wadood Khan 14. Bangladesh’s bowler Salma Khatun took 3-11.
