LAKKI MARWAT, Aug 28: Tehsil municipal officer of Lakki Marwat Asmatullah Marwat on Tuesday accepted the Municipal Workers Union’s call for withdrawal of the stay order he has secured from a local court against the use of the tehsil municipal administration’s funds.

The agreement came during talks of a MWU and All Employees Coordination Council delegation with the TMO at his office in Tanchi area.

Mr Marwat told delegates led by Muttahida Mahaz Asateza president Maulana Tameezuddin that he would withdraw his stay plea before Sept 4 and try his best to resolve problems faced by TMA workers and local residents.

Earlier, the council had a meeting chaired by its acting president, Nazir Khan, and attended by chairman Fareedullah Shah, general secretary Anwar Kamal, deputy general secretary Shakir Tajazai, Maulana Tameezuddin and representatives of employee organisations.

Participants expressed solidarity with MWU and urged the TMO to withdraw the plea for stay order against use of TMA funds.

They threatened to agitate if the plea wasn’t withdrawn. Some, however, called for resolving the matter by dialogue.
