GILGIT, Aug 28: Police in Gilgit on Tuesday arrested six persons suspected of involvement in sectarianism.

Police enhanced security in places where there was likelihood of clashes.

The administration set up several checkposts and pickets where search of people and vehicles was intensified.

National identity cards of people were being checked. Surveillance of hotels and bus stands was also enhanced with cops in plainclothes manning these places.

Meanwhile, attendance in offices and markets remained thin as people didn’t take any risk getting out and get trapped in any untoward situation.
