KARACHI, Aug 26: A suspected gangster was shot dead and his associate wounded in Baldia Town on Sunday, police said.

They said both men were believed to be activists of the banned People’s Amn Committee (PAC).

An area police officer said the incident took place within the remit of the Baldia Town police station at Baldia Town No 4.

“Shoaib Baloch, 35, and Mohammad Nawaz Baloch, 30, seemed to have been followed by the unidentified men while they were riding a motorcycle. When the two men reached a corner of a street near a KESC office, the suspects opened fire on them,” the officer said.

“It looked that the suspects were following them to find a suitable place to attack them,” the officer added.

The suspects fled after the shooting leaving the two men in a pool of blood, he said.

Both men were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Shoaib was pronounced dead on arrival while Nawaz was admitted for treatment, the police said.
