RAWALPINDI, Aug 23: Two youth drowned in Korang nullah while a teenager died after being hit by another boy as he jumped into a swimming pool of a play land near Ayub Park on Thursday.

In the first incident, Zeeshan Ahmed, 20 and Waqas Ali, 19, came to Korang nullah for picnic with their close relative Shafqat Ahmed, who was associated with Rawalpindi police.

Zeeshan and Waqas decided to take bath and jumped into the nullah, but soon lost their balance and began to drown.

On seeing them giving in to the strong currents, Shafqat, who had been sitting by the river bank, started shouting for help, but nobody turned up to rescue them and they drowned in the deep water.

Later the bodies of the victims were fished out of the water and handed over to their families. The victims were residents of Rawat village.

In another incident, Obaid-ur-Rehman, 12, a resident of Dhoke Chaudhrian, was playing in a swimming pool with some other boys when one of them standing on the platform slipped into the water and fell on him, injuring his neck.

After being hit by the boy, whose identity was not established, Obaid went into the water. He was, however, fished out but was pronounced dead on reaching the hospital.
