Meeting on quota policy

Published December 24, 2002

KARACHI, Dec 23: Pakistan Apparel Forum convener Masood Naqi has called a meeting of the Forum members to take up the issue of the new quota policy to be implemented from January 2003.

The Forum has requested the Quota Supervisory Council (QSC) to follow up with the Ministry of Commerce regarding the issue of allowing a further 10 per cent over-programming, especially for those categories where there had been only 80 per cent utilization, says a press release.

Masood Naqi and Aslam Ahmed Karsaz, chairman, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (S/B zone), on

behalf of the Forum have appealed to the QSC chairman for expeditious resolution of the matter as this would benefit exporters of value added textiles in meeting their export commitments.

The QSC in its meeting earlier this month had sent the proposal on the issue to the Ministry of Commerce for favourable decision.
