ISLAMABAD, Dec 21: Soft-drinks giants Pepsi, the major sponsors of next year’s cricket World Cup, set their promotional campaign rolling Saturday by launching a range of programmes and also unveiling the actual trophy.

The venue was the hill resort of Bhurban where the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Lt Gen Tauqir Zia performed the unveiling in what was a colourful ceremony.

The trophy will now undertake a tour of various cities as the sponsors bid to create a hype ahead of the tournament in South Africa starting in February.

A World Cup song by “Strings” featuring afro music was also launched as was a commercial starring Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Inzamam and the Zulu warriors.

A series of programmes named Inside Edge II profiling cricketers who can single-handedly change the complexion of a match will also be aired before and during the World Cup.
