LAHORE, Aug 12: Township police claim to have arrested the commander of a banned outfit and seized from him sensitive documents besides CDs containing anti-state material.

Saddar SP (Operations) Captain Liaqat Ali Malik (retired) told Dawn that Rashid Jamal was the Punjab chapter organiser of Hizbul Tehrir.

He said the suspect was taken into custody in the light of interrogations with some members who were hoisting anti-state banners at Akbar Chowk few days ago. He said the suspect, who is a computer expert, used to manage operations of his organisation in Punjab.

He said police seized hate material in soft copies from him and registered a case.

CARCKDOWN: Saddar division police impounded 220 motorcycles violating registration number-plates and documents.

FIRE: Unidentified people set a car on fire at Wafaqi Colony on Sunday.

Owner Ms Zohra Saleem told Rescue 1122 that some people set her car ablaze outside her residence.

Rescue 1122 controlled the fire.
