OKARA, Dec 21: Tension gripped the villages under military farms again after the registration of a case against 23 people, including eight women and two office-bearers of the Anjuman-i-Mazareen.

A case was registered on the complaint of village committee member Malik Jamil who claimed that he was beaten up and Rs3,700 were snatched from him by the accused in village 4/4-L.

He claimed that he stopped the accused who were taking part in a protest rally against the farm administration and the government and raising slogans from doing so.

Cantt police registered a case against Anjuman president Ghulam Hasan, women wing president Altaf Bibi, Muhammad Akram, Abdul Latif, Ghulam Husain, Abdul Ghaffar, Nazir Ahmad, Wali Muhammad, Muhammad Aslam s/o Gulab, Muhammad Aslam s/o Jan Muhammad, Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Tufail, Ibrahim, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Sarwar, Safia Bibi, Zareen Bibi, Khalida Bibi, Shahnaz Bibi, Naziran Bibi and Sughran Bibi.

The Anjuman office-bearers, on the other hand, said the ‘false case’ was registered to break the momentum of the movement.

It may be noted that the village committee members had been nominated by farms administration.
