PESHAWAR, Aug 8: At least six persons including three security men were injured when a vehicle was targeted by a powerful roadside improvised explosive device on Jamrud Road here on Wednesday.
An official of University Town police station said that the security personnel were coming in a double-cabin Datsun vehicle from Hayatabad to Saddar Bazaar when their vehicle was targeted. The bomb was planted at Phase-III Chowk near an under construction fountain and bridge, he added.
The injured were rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex and Khyber Teaching Hospital. The injured security personnel were later shifted to Combined Military Hospital. The blast destroyed the vehicle and also smashed windowpanes of the nearby buildings and shutters of the shops.
An official of Bomb Disposal Unit said that around three kilograms of explosives were used in the blast. — Bureau Report
