ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has demanded to implement the October Policy for the Compressed Natural Gas Policy to save billions of rupees of the industry.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Chairman APCNGA Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha has demanded from OGRA to implement the government's directive of October 04 and change the officers who are creating obstacles in solutions of problems.

“Some officials are black mailing the CNG sector. If these officials are not removed, the APCNGA will move the Supreme Court,” said Paracha.

He said these officials are also threatening the CNG owners of the NAB and the Supreme Court cases. However, he added, these cases are against the former chairman and have no link to CNG sector.

Paracha said, the stations which come under October 04 policy were already operational and working, their gas meters were installed and a heavy investment worth billions has been done for these stations.

He also mentioned recommendations of National Assembly’s standing committee on petroleum and natural resources calling for implementation of October 04, 2011 policy to save billions of rupees investment in the best interest of general public.

The committee on Monday had unanimously recommended to bring down the prices of CNG to the level of July 31 and stated that the funds allocated for the development work should not lapse and the funds lapsed already may be revalidated.

The committee had also recommended to the petroleum ministry to devise a mechanism to control the self created shortage of fuel prior to revision of the fortnightly prices of petroleum products.

It had also unanimously recommended to OGRA to implement the prime minister's policy issued on October 04, 2011 regarding CNG sector and also renew the all marketing licenses of 15-year-old CNG stations for further period to save investment of billions in CNG sector in the best interest of general public.
