QUETTA, Aug 7: The Election Commission has reinstated Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind as member of the Balochistan Assembly.

The Balochistan Assembly received a letter from the EC on Tuesday which said that Sardar Rind’s membership of the assembly had been restored on Aug 6.

Sources in the assembly secretariat said the membership of Sardar Rind was suspended for his failure to submit details of assets and property with the Election Commission in time.

“The EC has restored his membership after he submitted the details of his assets with the commission,” they said.

The sources said that Sardar Rind had also submitted an application to the Balochistan Assembly speaker, requesting the latter to declare him the Leader of Opposition in the legislature.

Sardar Rind was elected as an MPA from Bolan.

It may be mentioned that rules and regulations of the Balochistan Assembly allow the speaker to declare an MPA as Opposition Leader after viewing his application on merit.
