KARACHI, Aug 6: A hand grenade casing was thrown into a trader’s DHA home early on Monday.
Police said the incident took place in Phase 1. The trader had been receiving extortion threats for the past several weeks.
The suspect repeatedly rang the victim at Sehri. When the call was attended, the suspect told the businessman to pick up a hand grenade that they had thrown into his home, SP-Clifton Dr Furrukh Ali said.
The police reached the scene and discovered that it was an empty grenade shell.
The suspects wanted to terrorise the family, SP Ali added.
Bandit killed A suspected bandit was killed by a shopkeeper during a robbery attempt in Gizri.
The suspect came to the shop ‘Mobile.com’ situated in Upper Gizri, close to Zamzama Street within the remit of the Clifton police station.
During the armed hold-up at the shop, shopkeeper Shahzad Siddiq shot dead the alleged bandit with his licensed pistol.
The dead was identified as Qasim Ali Abbasi.
Police found a pistol on his person. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
