Rehana beats Nazia

LAHORE, Nov 21: A heavy schedule was completed on the opening day of the Ramazan-ul-Mubarik Lahore district table tennis championships for men and women at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre, Ferozepur Road here on Tuesday night.

The competitions in the girls, schoolboys and boys under-18 have been entered in the quarter-final stage.

In  girls  category  quarter-final, Sofia Jalal beat Shazia Manzur 21-16, 21-17.  Zainab defeated Maryam 21-18, 21-17. Rehana faced stiff challenge from Nazia before earning a win with score line 21-19, 17-21, 21-16. Rahila Bano toppled Humaira 21- 16, 21-15.

Following are the results of other competitions:

Schoolboys singles quarter-final: Muqarrab bt Fahad  21-16, 21-17;  Usama bt Umer 21-16, 21-19; Usman Khalid bt Fahad  Tehsin 19-21, 21-16, 21-17; Muaz bt Ali Raza 21-19, 21-15.

Boys singles under-18 (first round): Syed Shayan bt Ejaz Roy 21-11,  21-13; Ali Raza bt Umer Hasan 21-16, 21-19;  Muqarrab  bt Muaz  21-17, 21-17; Shoaib Amjad bt Umer Sabah 21-16, 17-21,  21- 16; Fawad bt Iftikhar 21-11, 21-14.

Quarter-finals:  Yahya  Virk  bt Syed  Shayan  21-13,  21-14; Muqarrab  bt Ali Raza 25-23, 21-23, 21-13; Awais Hasan bt  Shoaib Amjad 21-16, 21-12; Muneeb Virk bt Fawad 21-12, 21-13.
