Lewis to fight Klitschko

Published December 21, 2002

BERLIN, Dec 20: World heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis will face Vitali Klitschko in a title fight in the United States in April, Klitschko’s promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl said on Friday.

Kohl told Germany’s SID news agency the bout between the British champion and the Ukrainian challenger would take place on either April 12 or 19 — perhaps in Las Vegas but definitely in the United States.

Lewis had said earlier this month that he would be fighting Klitschko in March and might also go on to a rematch with Mike Tyson and then take on the Ukrainian’s brother Wladimir, the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title holder.—Reuters
