Two killed in road accident

HUB, Dec 20: At least two persons were killed and one sustained multiple injuries when a Karachi-bound passenger coaster hit them near Sonmiani, some 55 kilometres from here.

According to reports reaching here, Haji Amanullah Kashani, Sonmiani Tehsildar, with the help of levies force, was busy restoring the traffic, suspended when a truck loaded with feed overturned on main RCD Highway near Sonmiani late Wednesday night.

While the force members and others were busy to clean the highway and restore the traffic, a passenger coaster (No JB-0290) coming from Karachi hit Ganjdad, son of Allah Bakhsh, a local resident and Meraj, son of Mehmood Rahim, a resident of Quetta.

Both of them died on the spot while the levies personnel Siddiq, son of Mohammad Hussain Moondra, sustained multiple injuries.

Till the filing of this story, there was no report about the impounding of the vehicle or arrest of the driver.

PRESS CLUB: The elections for the office-bearers of the National Press Club, Hub, for the term 2002-2003 was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of senior journalist Aziz Roonjho.

Abdul Razaq Moondra and Deedar Ali Deedar were unanimously elected as president and general secretary, respectively.

Those who were elected as members of the executive committee include: Imdad Ali Roonjho and Rao Akhtar.
