ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has constituted special squads to curb practices of one-wheeling and underage driving, which not only puts the lives of violators in danger but also of other road users, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

These squads will remain present on 7th Avenue, 9th Avenue, Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and other areas of the city to take action against speedsters who perform stunts on roads.

The policemen in these squads will monitor various zones to ensure special vigilance after ‘Iftari timings’ when youngsters come out from their homes and get involved in these stunts, putting their lives on risk.

The SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood said that strict action would be taken against one-wheelers and car racers. He appealed to parents to ensure strict vigilance of their children and to not allow them to perform stunts on roads and put their lives at risk.“Such steps by the ITP are intended to ensure road safety for the citizens of Islamabad,” he said but termed the cooperation of parents vital to stop such life-threatening stunts.

The SSP said that bikers performing one-wheelers would be impounded and heavy fine will be placed on them.
