VEHARI, Dec 20: A local court on Friday accepted the bail application of three accused involved in the Sarwar Mai case.

The release of panchayat members Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Asghar and Allah Rakha came when victim Sarwar Mai gave statement in their favour. Local landlord and head of panchayat Jahangir Tareen has already been released. Now only one accused, Allah Ditta Lakhat, is in police custody.

CONVICTED: A local court on Friday handed down death sentence and fined Rs100,000 to a convict in a murder case.

The judge acquitted his five co-accused — Jamali, Muzaffar, Abbas Ali, Zahoor and Musharraf for lack of evidence.

According to the prosecution, Allah Bukhsh had killed Imtiaz Hussain over a land dispute some one year ago.
