Summer vacation, the happiest time of a student’s life, is coming to an end and now it’s time to face the books! It is quite hard to get back to the same old boring routine which is why here are some tips to help us get back on track and face the strict school schedule.

Get your timings right

Bed timings and wakeup timings need to change and become those that are suitable for school days. When you need to get up depends on how long you take to get ready and have breakfast, and when you leave for school.

And with Ramazan here, things will be a little different in the morning as those who would be fasting will have to get up for Sehr and Fajir prayers and, if there is time, take a little nap and get up with enough time to get ready and go. Others can follow their normal school time routine but keep in mind that your parents must have gotten up for Sehr and would be sleepy when you are going to school so try to get ready on your own.

Make a bedtime and wakeup time schedule and start to follow it a week before the holidays end.

Eat well

No breakfast, junk food at lunch time and dinner out in evenings is quite common for kids as well as parents during summer vacation. But as the school days approach near, these habits should be changed. Proper and healthy breakfast on time, balanced diet at lunch and dinner must be taken.

But, then again, Ramazan has led to some changes in our meal timings and contents as we all like to feast after a fast. So the holiday meal mode may continue till Eid but you need to get back into eating right and at set proper timings.

Routine

Most of us do not study during vacation but we must revise our lessons and begin the learning sessions one to two weeks before the holidays end. If we are starting a new class, we need to go though the new books to make ourselves familiar with them.

Instead of wasting energy and time on the internet, playing video games or watching television for hours, children should go outside, get some fresh air and play games they like! Research shows that when we play, our pulse rate increases, so more blood is circulated to the brain and this helps us in exams and tests as it is easier to memorise school lectures and assignments.

Pack up

Pack your bags, with all the books covered, name and class written. This can be done a day or two before school reopens. Also all the projects and worksheets completed during vacation should be kept in an organised manner.

Parents should also take responsibility for their child’s actions, they should make sure he/she maintains a healthy lifestyle and stays fit for school.

You should look at the bright side of restarting school — think about how you can work harder this year, aim for a better grade and a very successful year ahead. Good luck
