ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday made the voter lists public and available for correction, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim said the people wanted a change and that the ECP would do its best so that no objections could be raised over its role during the elections.

Ebrahim moreover said that no one would be able to vote without a computerised national identity card, adding that, the minimum voting age was 18 years.

He said the ECP had prepared the voter lists in a manner that no objections could be raised over them.

The CEC said that the public could now get information on voting simply by sending an SMS message.

Ebrahim said the ECP and Nadra's use of latest technology in its operations was commendable, adding that, changes could still be made to voter lists.

He further said that 84360000 voters had been registered and that the ECP was working in collaboration with the Nadra for this purpose.

The CEC said that the lists were prepared comprehensively and after house-to-house visits.

They should publish the voters list by constituency and should be electronic with your thumb print on it just like it is on you NIC and the casted vote. This way no one can cast fake votes against registered names on the voters list. I intend to check my name on the voters list as well.Text and Send you CNIC # to 8300 without dashes and you will get a response

The voter list list should be available at the post offices, in the libraries, license branches, and also on the internet so every one has an access to it.

I am a big fan of Rtd Justice Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim and I wish him and pray for him that Almighty Allah give him strength to overcome all problem in order to execute fair election in Pakistan and would request all Pakistan's people cast their vote with open eyes to avoid to have same people in assembly!!!

If the voters lists are still prepared on the basis of permanent address on CNIC, this will badly affect the voters turnover as a large number of rural population resides in urban areas. And majority of the population will not be be able to go to polling stations for this reason, beside having intention to vote. Instead voters lists should be prepared on the basis of residential address on the CNIC. Additionally, ECP should turn down the whole electioning if the voters TURNOVER is below 50% in any constituency.

You can check your name in voter list and address of polling station by sending your CNIC to 8300 . Remove dashes from your CNIC number. toseef25 has a very valid point. I really hope polling station is registered for the current address not the permanent address.

Vote by researching the candidate. Do not vote for a candidate just becuase he speaks your mother language. Please vote for people who have fear of Allah in their hearts and mind. The article does not mention how to check if you are registered to vote or not?

This is an excuse used for vote rigging. CNIC must remain a requirement. How long does rural population need to get a CNIC 100 years!

Iam in UAE now i want to check my vote but in same time i do not want to tell my CNIC in Pakistan to avoid the mis use of my CNIC I request to CEP plz put all voters details on internet ,we all have 100% confidence on IBRAHIM Sahab CEP ,and InshAllah I will come to Pakistan just vote for PTI
