LAHORE, July 30: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought a report from the Punjab government on a petition seeking removal of 500 ad hoc doctors recruited during a strike by the Young Doctors Association.
Dr Abu Bakar Gondal and others challenged the appointment of ad hoc doctors and requested the court to set aside all these appointments.
The petitioners, through their counsel, pleaded that the government through a newspaper advertisement invited applications for recruitment of ad hoc doctors. They said the government recruited 500 doctors in three days and ignored provisions of recruitment policy and the Constitution.
Petitioners said all the impugned appointments should be set aside and the Punjab government be restrained from making such appointments in future.
The court directed the government to submit its report within two weeks.
