LAHORE, Dec 18: The Narang Mandi Market Committee has refunded the price of a plot received 12 years ago on a directive of the Punjab ombudsman.
Complainant Haji Maqsood Ahmad submitted that he had paid Rs22,000 to the market committee in 1989 for the purchase of a plot. The committee allotted a plot but later cancelled it.
The market committee secretary submitted that Rs20,000 had been refunded to the complainant and case for the refund of remaining Rs2,000 had been submitted to the committee chairman. The remaining amount was also refunded in December last year under a directive of the Ombudsman.
In another case the district officer (environment), Lahore, took up the matter of noise pollution caused by the iron cutting machinery installed in a residential area on the complaint of Ghulam Nabi and ordered the factory owner to take the remedial measures proposed by him for redressing the grievance.
