KARACHI, Dec 18: Reckless driving claimed three lives in the city on Wednesday.

A six-year-old boy died and his sister was injured in a road accident in SITE. Police said that six-year-old Hamza Shabbir and his 10-year-old sister Maimoona were walking across a main road near Habib Bank Chowrangi in SITE when they were knocked down by a speeding truck (AE-384).

Two-way traffic was plying one track of the road as repair work was under way on the other track of the road.

They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Hamza dead on arrival. His sister was admitted to the hospital.

Police claimed to have arrested the truck driver, Mohammed Ashiq, and impounded the vehicle.

A young man died in a road accident in Soldier Bazaar.

Police said that motorcyclist Arif, aged 30, was knocked down by a speeding water tanker near Lasbella Chowk. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.

Police claimed to have arrested the tanker driver, Mohammed Afzal, and impounded the tanker.

A young man died in a hit-and-run accident on Super Highway at night.

Police said that Abdul Wali, aged 40, was run over by an unidentified vehicle while walking across the highway in the police limits of Gadap.

The body was sent to the JPMC for autopsy.
