KARACHI, Dec 18: Chief Secretary Sindh, K.B. Rind, has said that the devolution of powers to grassroots level has produced positive results in Sindh and a good working relationship exists between Nazims, DCOs, councillors and other officials.

He stated this while talking to a group of under-training government officials that called on him at his office on Wednesday. The group is on a study tour of Sindh.

The chief secretary informed the group about various development projects in Sindh and said that supply of water, sewerage, traffic congestion, transport and encroachments were important issues facing Karachi.

Mr Rind said that with the construction of the Lyari Expressway, the Karachi Northern Bypass, flyovers and the K-3 water supply project, a number of the city’s problems would be solved.

He said that in Sindh three phases of the Khushhal Pakistan Programme had been completed with positive effects. He expressed the hope that the fourth phase of the KPP would also yield good results.

He said that the RBOD, the Desert Emergency Relief Assistance and the KPP projects would herald an era of progress and prosperity in Sindh.—APP
