PHF makes team changes

LAHORE, Dec 17: Four players of Pakistan Greens have been transferred to the Whites team in order to make the teams equally matched for the NBP three-team hockey league, to be held at Lahore and Faisalabad from Dec 20 to 29. Pakistan juniors are the third team.

Goalkeeper Mohammad Qasim, full-back Zeeshan, Aamir Saleem and Imran Rasool will play for Whites instead of Greens.

The decision was taken on the request of the manager of the Whites Sami Khan.

In all, nine matches will be played in the league with first three matches at Lahore on single league basis and six at Faisalabad on double league.

The league is being held to pick Pakistan Seniors, Whites and Junior teams for the forthcoming international competitions. Seniors will take part in the Azlan Shah Cup to be held at Kuala Lumpur from March 20 to 30. Whites are to take part in a six nation competition scheduled for Cairo, Egypt from March 7 to 16.

Juniors will participate in the MHF U-19 tournament to be held at Kuala Lumpur from Jan 7 to 12.

Meanwhile, two players will miss the tournament as full-back Aasim Chohan has injured himself, while another probable Asif, has left the camp due to his marriage.

Greens: Goalkeepers: Ahmad Alam, Salman Akbar. Full-back: Sohail Abbas, Tariq Imran, Ali Raza, Aasim Chohan. Half-back: Ghazanfar Ali, Saqlain, Wasim Ahmad, Dilawar, Nadeem Iqbal. Forwards: Muhammad Sarwar, Nadeem, Kashif Jawwad, Shabbir, Saleem Khalid, Rehan Butt, Shahid Rabbani, Aqeel, Javed Iqbal, Anis, Sumair, Mudassar, Saleem Junior.

Whites: Mohammad Qasim, Rashid Yaqoob, Yousaf, Zeeshan, Imran Warsi, Aamir Saleem, Zia Banori, Imran Rasool, Iftikhar, Atif Mushtaq, Sumair Saleem, Samiullah, Javed Iqbal, Atif Mir, Siddiq, Sarfraz, Ishtiaq Hussain, Shakeel Abbasi, Aasim, Naeem Akram, Rizwan, Mohammad Aqeel, Rana Naeem, Munir.
