RAWALPINDI, Dec 17: Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Illahi has ordered the reopening and widening of Khanna Road and announced a Rs20 million grant for the purpose, Tehsil Nazim Raja Hamid Nawaz said on Tuesday.
Talking to this reporter after receiving the chief minister at the Islamabad airport, he said the survey for this purpose had already been done.
He said the reopening of the road, closed several decades ago by the Civil Aviation Authority, would greatly facilitate the movement of the people living in nearby areas. Flow of traffic from Islamabad Highway to Rawal Road through Kak Bridge will improve, decreasing the burden on the parallel roads, particularly the Murree Road.
