KOHAT, Dec 17: The people of Kohat, including elected representatives, businessmen, lawyers and social organizations have criticized the executive order issued by the NWFP chief minister, Akram Durrani, shifting the regional DIG offices from Kohat to his native town Bannu.

They warned the government that they would stage protest meetings in Peshawar against the controversial demands and decisions of the newly-installed MMA government in the province.

ANP MPAs Engineer Syed Kalb-i-Hassan and Khalid Habib and PPP (Sherpao) MPA Shad Mohammad Khan in their separate statements issued here on Monday described the decision as based on ill intentions and asked the chief minister to utilize his authority for the betterment of the people instead of wasting his energies on making transfers and promotions.

They said that after the establishment of chief minister’s secretariat in Bannu instead of Peshawar, the government was considering shifting of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education from Kohat to Bannu.

They threatened boycott of the assembly proceedings if the MMA government continued with the controversial policies.

The Mushtarika Markets Association, Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the lawyers’ community and social organizations appealed to the chief minister to use his discretionary powers for the welfare of the people instead of taking unwise decisions and politicizing petty issues.
