KARACHI, July 16: Violent protests were witnessed on Monday morning near the Model Colony graveyard on a road leading to Malir Cantonment after the burial of two young men who were found shot dead near the Military Dairy Farm, police said.

They added that the bodies of Mohammad Ayaz, 30, and Amanullah, 22, and a wounded man, Ahmed Ali, were thrown from a moving vehicle late Sunday night within the remit of the Khokhrapar police station.

Protesting against the killing, some people blocked the road linking Sharea Faisal with the Superhighway and shouted slogans against the authorities for their failure to protect their life.

They hurled stones at passing vehicles, breaking the glasses of several vehicles in Model Colony.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers rushed to the scene and after holding talks with the protesters persuaded them to end their hours-long protest.

The police said the wounded victim, Ahmed Ali, was under treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. They said they had not yet recorded his statement. He was a resident of Model Colony, they added.

The two slain victims were also residents of Model Colony and originally hailed from Rahimyar Khan, the police said, adding that they were associated with some business.

None of them was associated with any political party, said an official at the Khokhrapar police station.

Nobody had turned up at the police station till late in the night to lodge an FIR of the killings, he added.
