LAHORE, July 15: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan has predicted that the Supreme Court will strike down the new law on contempt of court.

“The contempt of court bill is like that of NRO and the Supreme Court will reject it,” Mr Khan said while addressing the Insaaf Students Federation convention here on Sunday.

He welcomed the appointment of Fakharuddin G Ebrahim as chief election commissioner saying that the caretaker setup should comprise people like him.

Khan further said he would lead a caravan of 100,000 people to Waziristan by the end of September. He said some extortionists had enslaved the people of Karachi. “Fear makes one slave and a coward can’t become a leader.”

He said without the youth no change could be brought about in the country.

To a query about former US envoy Cameron Munter’s statement that Mr Khan is a ‘friend of the US’, the PTI chairman said: “We are not against any one. We will do what is in the best interest of the nation.”

RAJA RIAZ: Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz says the Sharif brothers are enjoying immunity as no case has been opened against them.

He was talking to reporters at the residence of journalist Sarmad Bashir where he had gone to condole the death of his father on Sunday.

He said the Sharif brothers always got relief from courts. He asked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to stop `tent office drama’ and concentrate on improving the law and order situation in the province.
