KARACHI, July 7: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has made it mandatory for all players to register themselves with the games controlling body of the country and secure Pakistan Players Identification Number (PPIN) forthwith in order to make them eligible for featuring in national ranking tournaments.

The PPIN will be enforced from current month and those failing to secure it will not be allowed to feature in the country’s top events of the game.

A decision in this regard was taken at the management Committee meeting of the federation that took place in Islamabad recently with its president Syed Kaleem Imam in the chair.

The meeting decided to hold PTF Trophy on the basis of Davis Cup annually amongst its affiliated units and would be compulsory for the units to feature in the event.

The PTF has decided to depute its representatives for observing all national ranking tournaments in future besides setting-up a committee headed by Sultan Maqsood for naming the PTF Complex courts in Islamabad after stalwarts of the game.

Pakistan’s performance in international events particularly, in Davis Cup and Fed Cup, was also discussed at length.

Earlier, the meeting reviewed the progress of first half of the year which envisaged participation in four international events, staging of eight national ranking and five national junior tournaments apart from holding five coaching camps.—Sports Correspondent
