LAHORE, Dec 15: Five goals by Shah Shamyl Alam, and three by his sibling Shah Qublai Alam, enabled Lahori Knights to defeat Sindh Horse 9-3 to clinch the December Cup polo trophy.

Equally matched, with a total handicap of six each, Lahori Knight moved in unison and penetrated into the rival’s area with ease.

Shamyl drew first blood converting a 30 yards penalty hit followed by Qublai who scored a field goal with a back hander to double the lead. Arsalan came in to reduce the margin (2-1) converting a spot penalty.

Shamyl struck his second goal in the beginning of the second chukker. He cashed in on a penalty hit. Qublai also slammed his second goal to extend the lead to 4-1 before the hooter.

The winners scored three goals in the third chukker one each from Qublai, Shamyl and Hasan. But Arsalan banged home his second goal only to reduce the lead to 7-2.

Lahori went for the final chukker with complete control on the final and further succeeded to grace their win by scoring two more goals, both scored by Shamyl. Hardly two minutes before the final hooter, Usman fired a consolation goal that made the final score.

Earlier, three goals each by Ahmad Ali Tiwana and Atif Yar Tiwana helped Karachi Polo Club (KPC) beat Millennium Bug 10-6 to secure third position.

Millennium Bug made a flying start scoring four goals in the first chukker without conceding any to take 6-0 lead.

However, KPC dominated in the remaining three chukkers.
